2018 LFT Workshop Explores Future of Residential Connected Lighting

On June 18-19, key stakeholders from across the residential lighting and integrated home space convened for the 2018 Lighting for Tomorrow workshop. Nearly 40 individuals from 25 different organizations participated, including utility program administrators and regional energy efficiency groups; connected home, home energy management, and IoT strategy experts; lamp, fixture, and lighting control manufacturers; designers, vendors, and consultants; and publication and research entities. It was a remarkable gathering of dedicated people with good ideas and substantial knowledge who engaged in lively, informative discussions about the future of connected residential lighting from a variety of perspectives.

So, what are the next steps? A white paper is expected to be released; it will capture key takeaways from the workshop deliberations and provide a foundation for future activities related to the Lighting for Tomorrow platform. The white paper will also be a cornerstone of the Residential Lighting Breakout Session discussions at the 15th Annual CEE Industry Partners Meeting in September, where participants will identify potential partnership opportunities across the diverse landscape of connected lighting stakeholders to deliver a positive collective consumer experience.
